Shitload of…

Punters

Here’s an update from our favorite fey dental-flossing-strangers Scientologist Brit Stephen Bass. He runs the indie label Moshi Moshi Records, responsible for releasing the first tracks from all kinds of great people – Hot Chip, Lykke Li, Kate Nash, etc. etc. Last night he threw one of his Moshi Moshi nights at the Hoxton Square Bar. Here’s what he text us, while no doubt under the influence of whatever it is they do there – yeah, I think it’s crack. You should read it because it sounds fun, and so if you are in Londontown the next time they have a party, you’ll be pissed if you miss it. try to get through it since at the end he talks about his setlist for when he dj’d – listen up because he’s famous for not only being fey/baby-licking methhead, he’s also famous for making super great compilations. He’s got impeccable taste and he knows his stuff.

“last night was a sell out, well maybe even an over-sell out. i need to find out the actual capacity for that venue as it got too much. fleet foxes sold us a shitload of tickets dragged a shitload of punters off the sofa and were popping peoples minds from front to back. f lunaire and white williams also played and ponystepping pop goddess in the making thecocknbullkid headlined the night to rapturous applause, cranky dancing and a fair amount of mincing.

next week its the wave pictures with andre herman dune, slow club supporting noah and the whale, hot club de paris back at hoxton square bar and kitchen and metronomy at koko. then next saturday disco bloodbath the greatest night in london at the moment downstairs from a jerk chicken shop somewhere in east london. its like having a party in a hot tub its so small and sweaty and as much fun. disco bloodbath and horsemeat disco are soundtracking this year which is already seeming like some sort of balearic love-in.

for the record and just in case some strange nerd somewhere is in any way interested here is the compilation i made to play at the moshi night last night so i could pretend to dj which gives me the right to jump over the bar.”
