CATSTACULAR!
According to African folklore, white lion cubs are a lucky charm, born just once every 100 years. Is that true? It seems with the birth of six lil’ white cubs this year, it might not be. But what we do know for sure that these cuties look soft and cuddly. Star and Haze were born in April to lioness Natasha and a month later, four more lil cubs named Neptune, Ariel, Oberon and Ophelia were born a month later to lioness Maryn. They all live in a commune called West Midlands Safari Park in the UK.
Their creamy coats don’t make them albinos. Just super rare, due to a rare genetic mutation found only in a 200-square-mile area of South African bushland called Timbavati. It’s not exactly a snowy winterland there, so it’s hard for these beauties to hide from their natural enemies. And since their snuggly fur makes such nice rugs and wall hangings, scary men with guns are waiting to pop them off.
