“FUN IS FREEEEEEE…AND ILLEGAL”
So around midnight on Friday, Japanther, Ninjasonik and roughly 100+ revelers seized the Williamsburg Bridge.
A kamikaze gig was held on a small overpass in the middle of the bridge, connecting the two walkways. Neatly situated above the subway train and car levels, attendees happily smushed together in the narrow gap as Japanther and Ninjasonik riiiiipped it.
Others dangled from support beams. Those more limber scrambled atop a serendipitously parked crane sheltering the amps, drumkit, boombox, etc, powering it all. And yeah, the sound was rough - but do you really believe anyone on that bridge even cared?! Audacity and energy factor was off the map. Sound quality? Completely irrelevant.
Curiously, people seemed to be most surprised at how long it took to get shut down. Of course it took the cops 2 hours to show. Who the f*** would ever believe such an outrageous attempt could be taking place? It was on the Williamsburg Bridge.
